Mahatma Otoo calm over latest Black Stars snub

Striker Mahatma Otoo maintains he has no qualms with Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah after he was overlooked for the upcoming Japan and Iceland friendlies squad.

The Black Stars are preparing for two international friendlies to face the Samurai Blue first on May 30 before coming up against Iceland on June 7.

In Appiah’s 21-man squad, he named forwards Kwasi Okyere Wriedt, Emmanuel Boateng, Raphael Dwamena and Richmond Boakye Yiadom, ignoring the former Umraniyespor attacker.

But Mahatma, who has enjoyed a good run in the Turkey second tier, scoring 13 goals for Balikesirspor believes he will certainly have another opportunity in the senior national team.

“Kwasi Appiah was the one who invited me to the Black Stars for the first time so he knows what I can do.

“He has explained he’s building a new squad so since he knows me already, he want to have a look at other strikers so when the time comes to introduce Mahatma, I’m sure he will do exactly that,” the former Hearts of Oak star told GHOne TV.

“I’ve worked under him before so I know he will do that [invite me] at the right time,” Mahatma reiterated.

With his club failing to secure a spot in the TFF First League playoffs, Otoo is aiming at a better run next season, either with the Balkes or another club after the summer transfer window.
