Kwasi Appiah pleased with Boateng, Okyere debut display

Ghana coach, Kwasi Appiah has expressed satisfaction on the performance of new boys Emmanuel Boateng and Kwasi Okyere Wriedt in Wednesday’s international friendly against Japan.

The two players were in action as the Black Stars claimed a 2-0 victory in the Kirin Challenge Cup match.

Boateng scored the Stars’ second goal from the penalty spot after Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey has given the team a lead with a brilliant free kick.

On the side of Wriedt, the Bayern Munich forward enjoyed only eight minutes of play as Ghana held on to their two-goal lead against the Samurai Blue.

“Emmanuel Boateng had a lot more time to show what he could do. In Kwasi Okyere’s case, he did not have that much time but if you want to see something from a player to determine if he will fit in or not, that can be done in about five or ten minutes.”

“But then, the two players did their best especially Emmanuel Boateng,” the former Al Khartoum gaffer told reporters after the game.

The Black Stars play Iceland in another friendly fixture on June 7  at Laugardalsvollur.

Coach Kwasi Appiah is using the game to prepare for the 2019 Afcon qualifiers. Ghana will visit Kenya for their next game in September.
