‘Kotoko lucky to lose 3-1 to Karela,’ says coach Fabin

Asante Kotoko coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin admitted his side even rode their luck in Wednesday’s 3-1 defeat at Karela saying their hosts “could have scored more.”

The Porcupine Warriors had leveled the scores through Yacouba Songne after trailing to an Imoro Ibrahim opener before they were undone again by a first-half injury-time penalty converted by Abdul Ganiu Ismail.

Macxwell Baakoh, a former youth team player of Kotoko sealed the 3-1 victory for the Ghana Premier League debutants later in the second half of the matchday 11 fixture at the Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) Park in Ainyinase.

“I must give credit to Karela United. They played very well and they are a very good side,’’ Fabin noted at post-match.

“They really dominated in the second half and they scored one goal in the process. They could have scored more but for the brilliance of our goalkeeper [Felix Annan].

“We thank God we lost by three goals to one,” the Kotoko gaffer added.

Karela United are unbeaten in six home games so far and have impressively recorded wins over the Porcupines and Hearts of Oak by the same 3-1 score-line.

Now 10th after back-to-back defeats, Asante Kotoko next host Bechem United on Sunday May 6. The match will be played at Cape Coast Stadium as one of the moved games for matchday 12.
