Ghana trio, James Kotei, Kwasi Asante and Nicholas Gyan celebrated the 2017/18 Tanzanian league title with Simba SC despite a shock home defeat on their coronation day Saturday.
Kagera Sugar turned up the party poopers as they secured a 1-0 victory at Banjamin Mkapa National Stadium.
Simba were hoping to go unbeaten the entire season, having avoided defeat in 28 league games.
Left-back Kwasi Asante did not make the matchday squad but centre-back James Kotei and striker Nicholas Gyan lasted the entire penultimate fixture of the season for Simba.
Led by Coach Pierre Lechantre, Simba have won the Tanzanian Premier League title for the first time in five seasons.
They have earned themselves an automatic slot in the 2019 Caf Champions League competition.
Simba were presented with their trophy by Tanzania President His Excellency, Dr. John Pombe Magufuli, who was the Guest of Honour at the coronation of the new league champions.
