Exclusive: Sharks make loan request for Kotoko’s Yakubu Mohammed

Elmina Sharks have asked Asante Kotoko if they can take transfer-listed striker Yakubu Mohammed, Footy-Ghana.com can reveal.

The experienced goal poacher was deemed not in the plans of the coach Paa Kwesi Fabin-led technical team alongside two other players – Sadick Adams and Seth Opare – a few weeks ago.

Footy-Ghana understands Sharks, who are keen on signing strikers before the second transfer window of the 2017/18 ZylofonCash Premier League shuts in five days’ time, want Yakubu on loan until the end of the season.

Yakubu Mohammed joined Asante Kotoko in January 2017. He made 26 league appearances (6 of them from the bench) and scored six goals during the 2016/17 season. Until he got transfer-listed, the 26-year-old had made four starts and two substitute appearances in 12 games for the Porcupine Warriors this season and scored once. He also played in both legs of Kotoko’s unsuccessful Caf Confederation Cup outing against Cara Brazzaville and scored even scored in the Kumasi encounter.

The quite-travelled Yakubu had stints at AshantiGold, South Africa’s Maritzburg United, Raja Casablanca and Ait Melloul both in Morocco before joining Kotoko.

Footy-Ghana.com also understands that Elmina Sharks are considering the signing of striker Cosmos Dauda whose contract has been terminated by Hearts of Oak.
