Shafiu Mumuni scored in the 75th minute to give AshantiGold a 1-0 victory over Dreams at Len Clay that keeps them still within two points of leaders Medeama after matchday 14 of the 2017/18 ZylofonCash Premier League.
The Miners looked desperate for a win after claiming only one point in their last two games (0-0 against Sharks, 2-0 loss to Dwarfs). They forced for the lead but were lacklustre in attack despite creating numerous opportunities.
Dreams, on the other hand, maintained an impressive defence structure but came forward a couple of times. Their attacks could however not trouble the Miners as the first half ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
After the break, both sides battled for control of the game with AshGold enjoying a lion’s share, specifically in the midfield. In attack, they were still disappointing.
Dreams held on for long but they failed 15 minutes from time. The Still Believe Boys succumbed at last as Shafiu Mumuni struck to hand the four-time league winners a narrow victory.
AshGold remain second with 24 points – two behind leaders Medeama who also hammered Wa All Stars 4-1 on Wednesday.
Shafiu Mumuni claimed the NASCO Man of the Match award.
