Medeama SC have climbed to the summit of the 2017/18 ZylofonCash Premier League after beating champions Aduana Stars 2-1 in a matchday five outstanding match on Sunday.
The Yellow and Mauves, playing hosts at the T&A Park in Tarkwa, took an early lead – in the 5th minute through back-to-form midfielder Kwasi Donsu.
But Aduana equalized not long after returning from recess. The Fire Club were awarded a penalty and their spot kick expert Sam Adams put got it right again with strike in the 50th minute.
Medeama went short in numbers when goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi got the marching orders in the 76th minute after handling the ball outside the box. Coach Samuel Boadu was forced to sacrifice Rashid Nortey for substitute goalkeeper Yaw Ansah Fufuro to man the posts for the hosts three minutes later.
And they had the last laugh as Donsu again delivered a final minute winning goal for Medeama – one that sends them top of the league table.
With 23 points now, Medeama have toppled AshantiGold who are on 21. Both sides have completed the same number of games, 11.
