Uninspired Dreams held by Karela

Karela United put on a spirited and gritty display to hold Dreams FC to a goalless draw in their 2017/18 Ghana Premier League matchday five trip to Dawu on Sunday.

The visitors set out to defend from start and the strategy worked well throughout the match – they were too defensive to the extent of refusing to be lured into taking the advantage when their hosts, Dreams FC, looked vulnerable.

Dreams generally looked static while enjoying plenty of possession for a larger part of the game.

Zuberu Sharani, who looked off colour on the day, could have found the opener but he had teammate Patrick Arthur getting in his way before he could attempt a shot on goal.

Dreams FC came close again with George Dwubeng but the midfielder failed to connect properly at far post.

The case was not different in the second half with Maxwell Arthur seeing his volley cannon off the crossbar.

Karela United could have stung their hosts but NASCO man-of-the-match, Sierra Leonean Donald Wellington, was poor in his decision making in the final third.

Johnson Smith’s side were happy to get away with a point from the Dawu Park after six minutes of additional time.

Karela return to their favourite Cam Park to host Berekum Chelsea while Dreams FC are on the road to face Bechem in the matchday six fixtures on Wednesday April 11.
