Portia Boakye joins Djurgårdens in Sweden return

Ghana forward Portia Boakye has completed a return to Sweden by signing for Djurgårdens IF in the Damallsvenskan.

The 28-year-old left-footed Black Queens winger cum striker previously featured for Östersund when she first arrived in Europe back in 2016.

During her first stint in Sweden, Boakye scored nine times in 22 appearances for Östersund. She then moved to Turkey and bagged 17 goals in 22 matches for Trabzon Idmanocagi.

“I came to Sweden in 2016 and played half a year for Östersund and it has been a wish since then to come back to Sweden and play in a top like Damallsvenskan.

“I am very happy to be here. I work hard, I am very serious at the training and are sure to do my absolute best in each match. And I score a lot of goals, she said in her first interview at Djurgårdens.

Portia Boakye, who was part of the Black Queens’ team that won the maiden Wafu B Women’s Cup a couple of months ago, recently had a brief stint with Hungarian side Ferencvarosi TC.
