No change in Kotoko’s captaincy – Fabin

New Asante Kotoko coach Paa Kwesi Fabin has confirmed that Amos Frimpong will continue to captain the side.

The versatile defender, who is in his seventh year with the Porcupine Warriors, has been substantive captain since March 2015.

Following the club’s exit from the Caf Confederation Cup and the appointment of a new coach, media reports claimed Frimpong was set to lose his leadership role but coach Fabin has discarded the assertions.

“I’ve heard it from the media but I urge you all to treat it with the highest contempt it deserves.

“I just came to the club and I can’t do that. A coach can’t do that – stripping off a captain without doing anything. Amos Frimpong will continue to be my captain,” he told journalists after Kotoko walloped lower tier side Kumawuman United 10-0 in a training ground friendly.
