Wa All Stars emerged first-time champions of the StarTimes GFA Gala after prevailing 4-2 in a penalty shootout over Techiman Eleven Wonders on Sunday.
In their race to the final, All Stars scored four goals in the special knockouts played in a 40-minute per game format.
The finale against Eleven Wonders however had a 60-minute duration but both sides fired blanks in the quite even game at the Nduom Stadium.
Penalty shootouts had to decide the winner of the 2018 StarTimes Gala. And for the first time, the brand-new penalty shootout format known as ABBA, was implemented.
All Stars converted all their kicks while Wonders missed two.
Wa All were decorated with gold medals in addition to a glittering trophy. They earned a combined $5,000 from start to becoming winners of the two-day competition.
The new Ghana football season kicks off next weekend – from Friday, February 9, 2018.
