Ghana forward Andre Ayew has revealed his father Abedi Pele was skeptical about his switch from Swansea to West Ham about 18 months ago.
The 28-year-old is back for a second spell at the Liberty after sealing a club-record £18million move from West Ham on deadline day.
It means he will play alongside his little brother Jordan again – having done so for Marseille and Ghana – and he cannot wait to get started.
And their father – African football hero Abedi Pele – was in no doubt as to what his eldest son should do when the chance to head back to South Wales presented itself.
“My father is happy, he was not for me leaving Swansea to be fair,” said Andre.
“He told me he did not want me to go, he felt I was not done here but things happen and decisions are made.
“But when I had the chance to come back his advice was to come back to Swansea and not go anywhere else.
“I thought about it, I have more experience now so I made sure I considered everything.
“I had offers in England and other countries but I felt I had unfinished business here.
“I know it is tough, that everyone can stay up or everyone can go down. So it will be good to get up in the Premier League and achieve our goal.”
Andre Ayew could make his second Swansea debut at home to Burnley on Saturday after recovering from a hamstring problem.
