Edwin Gyasi: Ghana winger signs for CSKA Sofia

Ghana international, Edwin Gyasi has finally been granted his wish for a fresh challenge after signing for Bulgarian giants CSKA Sofia on Thursday.

The winger leaves Ålesund FK after two seasons during which he registered 13 goals in 53 appearances.

Gyasi has been keen on a move recently and made his intentions clear to the Norwegian top tier side during the winter transfer window.

After days of absence from Alesund’s Spanish training camp, CSKA reached an agreement to sign the 26-year-old. He subsequently traveled to Sofia and sealed his terms of a two-and-half year contract on Wednesday, Footy-Ghana.com can confirm.

“I cannot wait to start training with the team. I am glad to be part of the biggest Bulgarian club, of which world-renowned players such as Stoichkov and Berbatov have played for the big football.

“The ambition for trophies and big matches in Europe has brought me to CSKA. Roland Albergen for telling me about the fantastic crowd and good atmosphere at the club,” Gyasi told CSKA Sofia’s official website.

He becomes the fifth signing by CSKA Sofia after Roland Alberg, Jérferson Teles, Jean Carlos Blanco and Andre Montero this Spring.

CSKA Sofia are just a point behind leaders Ludogorets in the Bulgarian First Professional Football League title race with six matches to go.

Edwin Gyasi, who has been capped twice by Ghana, was linked to several clubs in England, Spain, France and Russia.
