Ghalca G8: Karela’s first half blitz eliminates Dwarfs

Karela United fired a 5-minute treble as they hammered Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs 4-0 in the ongoing Ghalca G8 Tournament Thursday.

Solomon Sarfo Taylor stole the show with a first half hat-trick for the Ghana Premier League new boys who brightened their chances of a last four place with the impressive victory in their second match in Group B at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Sarfo Taylor began the journey to his goal haul on 25 minutes after some awful defending from Dwarfs allowed him to head home.

He grabbed his brace two minutes later with a brilliant solo run before slotting the ball past the Dwarfs goalkeeper.

Karela then got their third on the half-hour mark after new signing Isaac Kwain’s (who completed his free move from Dwarfs 48 hours prior) pinpoint cross was nodded in at the far post by Captain William Opoku Mensah.

Sarfo Taylor then completed his hat-trick on the 43rd minute for Karela to head to the recess with a comfortable 4-0 lead.

The second half failed to produce any more goals as Karela saw out an impressive win that knocked out Bashir Hayford’s side.

Hat-trick hero Solomon Sarfo Taylor was named man-of-the-match.

The battle for the semifinal slot in Group B gets keener on Sunday when bottom-placed Ebusua Dwarfs play under-pressure Hearts of Oak with Karela also facing the already qualified Medeama.
