Ghalca G8: Dreams FC sting Kotoko

A Richard Addae first-half stoppage-time goal handed Dreams FC their first ever victory over Asante Kotoko on Wednesday.

The 1-0 result at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium also marks the Kweiman-based club’s first three points in two matches in the ongoing 2018 Ghalca G8 Tournament.

Addae grabbed the goal within the two minutes additional time of first half after Kotoko’s Seth Opare was disposed of the ball in the midfield. Leonard Owusu quickly found Zuberu Sharani with his second touch – the latter on a swift run then laid a perfect pass for his strike partner to smash home past the on-rushing Kotoko goalkeeper Michael Abu.

The Porcupines were handed an opportunity to pull level in the second half after Yakubu Mohammed was adjudged to have been pulled down in the Dreams FC 18-yard box. The resulting penalty kick by trialist Frederick Boateng was saved by goalkeeper Ishawu Yahaya.

Both Dreams and Kotoko are now on three points after two games in the Ghalca G8. Kotoko face defending champions Aduana Stars while Dreams meet Techiman Eleven Wonders in the final Group A games.

Dreams FC captain Leonard Owusu was adjudged man-of-the-match.
