Bernard Tekpetey cancels Altach loan

Ghana forward Bernard Tekpetey has cut short his loan deal with SCR Altach.

In August 2017, the 20-year-old left Schalke 04 for the Austrian Bundesliga side on a season-long loan.

But after the first half of the 2017/18 season, Tekpetey’s deal has been canceled “at his own request with immediate effect,” his German club announced on New Year’s Day.

The UniStar Soccer Academy product featured 10 times for Altach and bagged only 425 minutes of playing time – a stat he deemed unsatisfactory with respect to the aim of his loan spell.

Bernard Tekpetey, who was first signed to the Schalke U-23 side in February 2016, still has a contract with the Royal Blues until June 30, 2020.

He is expected to join the rest of the team at their Spanish training camp today.

In the coming days, Tekpetey is expected to hold talks with the Schalke leadership in exploring options for his immediate future.
