EPL: Swansea’s Jordan Ayew prays for luck to beat City

Ghana striker Jordan Ayew says Swansea City will need some bit of luck as they bid to pull off a shock win over Manchester City Wednesday night.

Paul Clement’s men are off the bottom of the Premier League table after ending a seven-game winless streak by beating West Brom last weekend.

But few will give them a chance of making it two victories in succession when the Premier League’s top side come to the Liberty Stadium.

Manchester City have been awesome so far this season, winning 15 and drawing one of their 16 top-flight games to establish an 11-point lead at the summit of the table.

Pep Guardiola’s side have played some spectacular football this term, with many pundits suggesting they have already built an unassailable advantage at the top.

But the Swans are determined to make life difficult for City’s megastars as they try to build momentum after the Baggies victory.

“Saturday’s win has given us a massive boost,” Ayew said.

“The win against West Brom is something we can build on. It was a very good feeling.

“The whole team is fired up at the minute to continue our progress because we don’t want to have a difficult season like last year.

“We know we have to continue to improve offensively, but we are going in the right direction. We just have to keep pushing.

“We need some luck against Manchester City. They have an unbelievable squad and are strong in every department.

“But we are starting the game 0-0. We will do our best and give 100 per cent to try to get something positive from it.

“If we could do it, beating Manchester City would be our biggest result of the season.”

Ayew will hope for a recall to the starting side on Wednesday having made a positive contribution as a substitute in the West Brom game.
