Prisons Ladies became the new champions of the Sanford Women’s FA Cup after defeating holders Police Ladies on Saturday.
The Sunyani-based side stunned their fellow security team with the only goal of the game as early as the second minute of play at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
Sylvian A. Mensah registered the vital goal for the Prisons side.
The new Sanford Women’s FA Cup champions received a GH¢10,000 prize money with runners-up Police Ladies also pocketing GH¢8,000.
The Ghana Women’s FA Cup began in 2016 with Police Ladies winning the inaugural edition.
The competition has Stanford World Clinic as title sponsors. They hold the rights over a four-year period worth GH¢1 million.
A total of 32 teams compete in the cup competition: the 16 top-tier sides and another 16 teams playing in the regional leagues.
