Black Starlets coach Paa Kwesi Fabin says about 70% of his squad which represented Ghana at the 2017 Fifa U-17 World Cup will be signing professional contracts with clubs abroad soon.
Ghana exited the competition at the quarterfinals stage following a 2-1 defeat to fellow Africans Mali last weekend.
The Starlets contingent returned to the country Tuesday morning and were welcomed by deputy Sports Minister Pius Enam Hadzide as well as Ghana FA Veep George Afriyie.
Speaking to Kumasi-based Nhyira FM, coach Paa Kwesi Fabin said he is set to prepare his report to the Ghana FA technical directorate after which he will be expecting a decision on his future.
He said: “My fate is not in my hands” before adding that “I will feel very relieved” should he be told to vacate the position he has held for the past six years.
“The task at the U-17 level these days is no joke.
“Honestly, I feel that for six years now I have done enough. I have been able to groom players to play for the Black Stars. Since I began to coach the Ghana U-17s, as many as 25 of the players who passed through my team currently play in Europe.
“And even this current team which just exited the World Cup, I can tell you for a fact that about 15 would leave for Europe soon. Some of them were even bought before the tournament,” coach Fabin revealed.
Prior to the World Cup, the likes of Emmanuel Toku, Edmund Arko-Mensah, Aminu Mohammed were rumoured to have reached agreements with some European clubs.
