11-member LOC for Ghana 2018 Women’s Afcon inaugurated

Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah on Thursday inaugurated an 11-member Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) which will be hosted by Ghana.

The Women’s Afcon is the flagship female football competition for Africa and the 13th edition has been slated for November 17 to December 1, 2018.

Hon. Freda Prempeh has been sworn in as the Chairperson with former Ghana FA veep, Fred Crentsil named as her Vice Chair.

Speaking after the ceremony held at the Conference room of the Sports Ministry, the LOC Chairperson who has served on the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth and Sports over the years said:

“We are going to work hard and bring the hosting to fruition. I can assure the citizenry we involve all those who matter.

“In the interim, we will re-exam the stadia, sponsorship, security, transportation and accommodation,” Hon. Prempeh added.

An Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association who doubles as the Chairperson for Ghana’s women’s league, Madam Leanier Addy would also serve on the LOC as member.

Eight others who complete the 11-member committee include the new Board Chairman for the National Sports Authority Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, Evelyn Nsiah Asare, Madam Mawuse Walker, Mr. Nadel Madjoub, Madam Frances Abena Koranteng Agadzi, Felix Ansong and Kofi Nsiah (COO).
