Man Utd 4-0 West Ham: Ayew kept at bay in Hammers heavy defeat

Ghana international Andre Ayew featured for West Ham United who got thrashed 4-0 by Manchester United in their 2017/18 Premier League opening game on Sunday.

Ayew, forming part of a front three with new signings Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernadez for the Hammers, played full throttle but had to endure a frustrating afternoon at the Old Trafford.

It took the home side 33 minutes to get their noses in front as record signing Romelu Lukaku lashed onto a through ball from Marcus Rashford to slot home his debut goal for the Red Devils in the Premier League.

A game largely dominated by Manchester wasn’t anything different in the second half as they imposed their superiority on the Hammers. Lukaku scored again to make it 2-0 seven minutes after recess.

Three minutes to full time, substitute Anthony Martial beat the West Ham defence to make it 3-0, while Paul Pobga placed the icing on the cake with his long range effort which beat Joe Hart in the 90th minute.

After being kept silent in the season opener, Andre Ayew will be looking forward to bouncing back in an explosive style when the Hammers host Southampton in their game.
