Gladson Awako ready for Premier League return

Just as Winful Cobbinah has lit up the Ghana Premier League with his skills and flicks after a move from Saudi Arabia, midfielder Gladson Awako is aiming to replicate such feats after his trophy-laden years at TP Mazembe.

The midfielder is set for a return to the local scene with the Porcupine Warriors keen on acquiring his services.

Awako has been part of the large Ghanaian contingent at TP Mazembe but a persistent injury has reduced his playing time drastically over the years.

A loan stint to rivals Don Bosco did not yield the expected return and he is looking forward t returning to Ghana.

“I spoke to one or two people from Kotoko [a few weeks ago].”

“If there’s the chance for me to join Kotoko, I don’t think it should be a bad thing. Kotoko is one of the big clubs in Ghana and Africa too. They are well known.”

Despite the preference to Kotoko, Awako is open to the possibility of joining other clubs in the country after already having stints with Berekum Chelsea and Heart of Lions.

“And any club at all in Ghana here, I will not mind if there should be the chance to join them.

He will be the second Ghanaian to return from Mazembe after left back Richard Kissi Boateng joined Liberty in the second round of the 2017 Ghana Premier League season.
