Unity Group boss Kwame Kyei appointed Executive Chairman of Asante Kotoko

Business magnate Dr. Kwame Kyei is new Executive Chairman of record Ghanaian champions Asante Kotoko Sporting Club.

The Unity Group boss takes over from the dissolved lawyer Paul Adu-Gyamfi-led Board which had club legend Samuel Opoku Nti as head of administration in the past three years.

His appointment, for a three-year period, was made public by the Manhyia Palace Sunday.

Dr. Kyei, 55, has been authorized to name his own Board members and present to the owner and life patron of Kotoko, the Asantehene for approval.

“Dr. Kyei has been mandated to reshape the administrative structure of the club to infuse professionalism and competence at all levels of its operations.

“The ultimate objective of the mandate is to consolidate the position of the club at the top of the domestic league and advance further to take its rightful place among the elite clubs of Continental African Soccer,” parts of a statement from the Manhyia Palace read.

Dr. Kwame Kyei was officially introduced to the Kotoko playing body and technical team during their final preparations for their opening game in the G6 pre-season competition at the Adako-Jachie training grounds Sunday morning.
