Former Coach of Ghana’s senior national male soccer team, Ralph Zumdick is assured the Black Stars will emerge victors in their World Cup qualifying opener against Uganda.
With the FIFA World Cup qualifiers (Africa) beginning this weekend, the Black Stars begin their campaign for the 2018 mundial in Russia against Uganda in Tamale on Friday.
Zumdick who has handled Asante Kotoko SC and was at the Black Stars training session on Tuesday opined Ghana has the all the quality it takes to shine over the Cranes in Friday’s encounter.
“Ghana is my home and I am always happy to be here, I think it’s going to be a tough game because Uganda is a good side but I believe the Black Stars can win,” Zumdick said to the media.
“Ghana has a strong team now and they have been playing together for some time. I have followed the team in their previous World Cups and I think they can win this game against Uganda.”
The German who is affectionately known as ‘The Cat’ was the coach of Ghana’s Black Meteors for the 2003 All Africa Games in Abuja. He also took over as caretaker coach for the Black Stars 2006 World Cup qualifier against Somalia.
Zumdick has had a stint in Ghana coaching Kumasi-based clubs, Asante Kotoko and King Faisal. He is also the former assistant manager for Hamburger SV and Borussia Dortmund all in Germany.
Ghana is looking for its fourth successive World Cup appearance after having an initial presence in 2006 hosted by Germany.
