The Egyptian Minister of Youth & Sports has announced that a record-high number of fans allowed to attend a football match since 2012 will be present in Egypt’s World Cup Qualifier against Ghana.
Egypt have not had fans attend regularly at stadiums since the 2012 Port Said Massacre and things now look like they’ll change after Minister Khaled Abdel-Aziz confirmed.
Abdel-Aziz took to his Facebook page to announce how glad he was with the fans’ showing at Borg El-Arab Stadium in the CAF Champions League Final between Zamalek & Mamelodi Sundowns.
The minister later decided to bring more joy to the fans by announcing that 75,000 will be allowed to attend the match in the 86,000 seater stadium, which will be a record-high since 2012 in Egypt.
The previously announced number was 50,000 but it appears Khaled Abdel-Aziz has found an agreement with the Ministry of Interior to bump that number up.
Egypt face Ghana on the 13th of November at Borg El-Arab Stadium in the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers. The Pharaohs currently top they group with three points, Ghana & Uganda have a point each with Congo at bottom with zero points after the first round.
