The midfielder was on Friday, 14th October awarded a cash prize from the club’s headline sponsors GOIL for being the most outstanding player in the 2015/2016 season.

He played in all thirty games for the Phobians, a feat that the club’s communication director Kwame Opare Addo says contributed to him winning the award.

“Well Mustapha Essuman is the only player that played all the thirty league matches, apart from Mustapha, no other player has played the thirty matches and if you look at his performances too, you will realize he did very well and along the line, we had three separate coaches, and he was the only players who satisfied all the conditions of the coaches and that’s why he played all the matches meaning there is something good in him and all the supporters agree that he’s a good player”.

Essuman who has had stints with Liberty Professionals and Ebusua Dwarfs joined Hearts of Oak from Vietnamese side Can Tho FC before the start of the 2015/16 season.

After the presentation, he told the media he was grateful for the support from his teammates, “It’s not easy to be chosen as the outstanding player of a team and I want to thank all my teammates for their support because I couldn’t have done it without them and I’m grateful for this achievement”.

He added, “I got a very good season and it’s all by the grace of God, it’s not by my strength or by my wisdom”.

The midfielder scored twice out of the thirty matches played.
