Finalists will receive prizes despite delay-FA Cup Committee Veep

Vice President of the MTN FA Cup organizing committee, Kofi Poku has assured that the 2015/2016 MTN FA Cup winners and runners-up will receive their prizes despite the delay in releasing them.

Bechem United, winners of the competition and runners-up Okwahu United are yet to receive their prize money due them after the competition. The competition which had its final played on September 4 saw Yaw Arnol’s brace give Bechem United a 2-1 win at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Several concerns have been raised about the delay in payment of the prizes to be given the finalists and Kofi Poku has cleared the air amid rumours that the promises won’t be fulfilled.

“We were not very sure about the documentation of the land. In order to prevent future litigations on the plot of land allocated after the land owners couldn’t provide documents to the land, we declined the choice of the land so as not to gamble.

Bechem United and Okwahu United are going to receive whatever is due them. It’s a process which needs securing an invoice from the FA through to MTN to finalise all dealings. I want to assure everyone that the clubs will have their money,” Kofi Poku told Footy-Ghana.com

“In the past all sums were paid to the prize winners. I don’t think this should be an issue. The club that plays in Africa will also get some extra cash to support their campaign” he added.

Meanwhile the Ghana FA together with the FA Cup committee has released a list of nominations for the awards ceremony scheduled for next month.
