ENGLAND

It was a weekend of mixed results from Ghanaian players abroad.

At the King Power Stadium, 21-year-old Daniel Amartey sparkled once again for the current EPL holders as they recorded a second successive win – cruising to a 3-0 win at home against Burnley. He lasted the entire duration of the game but compatriot Jeffrey Schlupp was not part of the team.

Andre Ayew was missing in action for West Ham after picking up an injury on his EPL debut against Chelsea. The good news is, the assistant Black Stars skipper has begun light training as he is bidding time to bounce back strongly.  The Hammers lost 4-2 to West Bromwich Albion.

Jordan Ayew saw full action for Aston Villa as they held Ipswich Town at home to a goalless draw in the Championship. They are yet to pick a win in their last six matches. Ghanaian compatriot Albert Adomah came in as a substitute for the last eight minutes for the ‘Villains’.

Christian Atsu suffered his first defeat in the championship with Newcastle United – losing 0-2 at home to Wolverhamption Wanderers. The 24-year-old was introduced in the 63rd minute of the game.

Elsewhere, Elvis Manu was unused for Brighton and Hove Albion in their 0-1 win against Burton Albion as they record their second straight win.

In League One, Daniel Agyei was an unused substitute for Coventry City in their goalless match against Oldham Athletic at home. Kwame Thomas was not part of the Coventry squad.

SPAIN

Midfield-enforcer Thomas Partey is enjoying a torrid time in this season’s La Liga campaign with limited action and was no surprise he was not part of Atletico Madrid set-up that brush aside Sporting Gijon to a 5-0 wobbling.

After serving his ban, Kevin-Prince Boateng came off the bench to play the last 11 minutes for Las Palmas as they defeated Malaga by a goal to nil at home.

In the Segunda Division, Ghana’s number one goalkeeper Razak Braimah is yet to start a game for Cordoba since his move from CD Mirandes. Poland international Pawel Kieszek has been keeping the post and did so as they defeated Levante by a goal to nil.

On Friday night, Clifford Aboagye was not part of the Granada’s team that held Real Betis to a 2-2 away draw.

ITALY

Godfred Donsah saw 29 minutes of action for Bologna as they surrendered to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Napoli.

In the Italian derby, Kwadwo Asamoah lasted full 90 minutes for Juventus but lost to a spirited Inter Milan side by two goals to one.

Udinese lost their first game of the season in the Italian league as Chievo Verona handed them a shocking 1-2 defeat at home. Emmauel Agyemang-Badu played the entire game for Udinese.

Alfred Joseph Duncan played one of the best games for Sassuolo this season, guiding them to a two nil win over Genoa. Isaac Coffie was sat on the bench for Genoa.

Torino, who suffered a 2-1 defeat last week could not return to winning ways as they played a goalless draw with Empoli. Afriyie Acquah lasted the entire duration of the game.

In the Serie B, Randsford Selasi, who was loaned out by Pescara on transfer deadline day warmed the bench for Novara in their 3-1 defeat to Cittadella.

GERMANY

After scoring his first goal for the Schalke 04 in the Europa League on Thursday, Baba Rahman, though saw full action, could not prevent Hertha BSC’s two goals in the second half.

Eintratcht Braunschweig continued with the impressive run of form, defeating SV Sandhausen by 2-1. Philimon Ofusu Ayeh defended from right back throughout the game whiles Joseph Baffo stayed the bench for the home side.

German-born Jan Gyamera came off the bench for VFL Bochum in the Bundesliga 2 game against FC Nurnberg in a nine-goal thriller. Bochum won by five goals to four at home.

FRANCE

Former Trabzonspor striker Abdul Majeed Waris made his way onto the pitch for Lorient in the second half to help them pick their first win in four league games. They defeated Lille by a goal to nil.

Youngster Geofrey Acheampong, 19, saw his side, Bastia, from the bench – losing by 1-0 to Saint Etienne.

NETHERLAND

Manchester City youngster Yaw Yeboah, who is on loan enjoyed the entire 90 minutes for FC Twente against ADO Den Haag, defeating them by 3-1.

Rodney Antwi was missing in action for FC Utretcht in their big 1-5 humiliation at home against FC Groningen.

Dutch-born Jonathan Opoku warmed the bench for VVV Venlo in the Eerste Divisie. They recorded their second successive defeat with Helmond Sport beating them by 2-1.

Elsewhere in the Divisie, Ghaanaian-born Thomas Agyepong played for NAC Breda in their away defeat to RKC Waalwijk.

NEC Nijmegen picked their third straight defeat in the league – losing two zero to Sparta Rotterdam. Quincy Owusu-Abeyie played full 90 minutes whiles Reagy Ofosu came off the bench in the 46th minute.

BELGIUM

KVC Westerlo suffered a 1-3 at home against Royal Excel Mouscron but Mitch Appau lasted 61 minutes on the field. They are winless in ten matches in the Belgian First Division.

Eric Ocansey, 19, started for AS Eupen in their 3-2 defeat away to Club Brugge before being substituted in the 73rd minute.

St. Truidense VV wallop Waaland Beveren by 4-1 at home. Nana Opoku Ampomah was thrown into action to play the last 17 minutes of the game.

Frank Acheampong continue to enjoy his new role at left back and guided RSC Anderlecht to a 0-2 comfortable win against KRC Genk. Emmanuel Adjey Sowah warmed the bench for the visitors, whiles tall-lanky winger Benard Yao Kumordzi played the last three minutes of the game.

Nana Kwasi Asare saw no action for Gent in their away fixture against KV Oostende.

FINLAND

Former Asante Kotoko forward Ransford Osei warmed the bench for home side RoPS Palloseura as they narrowly defeated PK 35 to pick their first win in their last two league games.

Anthony Annan saw full action for HJK Helsinki and was yellow carded in the 71st minute. Former Inter Allies winger Evans Mensah was brought on in the 90th minute as they lost to Inter Turku by 3-2.

AUSTRIA

In the Austria Erste Liga, duo Samuel Tetteh and goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi were in action against Horn away. Tetteh made two assist before being substituted in the 90th minute whiles Lawrence conceded two goals but eventually ended up winning by 2-3.

RUSSIA

Jonathan Mensah sparkled at the heart of defense for Anzhi Makhachkala on Saturday night to pip Ural Yekaterinburg away from home.

SWEDEN

Former Inter Allies defender Joseph Aidoo was in the thick of event for Hammarby IF away against Jonkopings to record their fifth win in their last eight games.

AIK carried on with their wonderful run – six matches without a defeat. Ebenezer Ofori was in action for his side whiles Kwame Bonsu lasted 65 minutes for Gefle – losing by a goal to nil.

IF Elfsborg walloped Falkenberg FF at home by five goals to nothing. Enoch Kwakwa played the entire game for the visitors.

William Amamoo failed to command a starting place for Angelholms whiles Prince Adjesi played the last seven minutes of the game against Dalkurd FF in the second tier.

Abdul Basit Adam, 21, was unused for IK Frej in their away fixture against Assyriska FF.

NORWAY

Mahatma Otoo was not in action for Sogndal IL in their 3-0 win against Sarpsborg.

Duo Mohammed Abu and Bismark Boateng were both in action for Stromgodset against Aalesunds FK. Abu played the entire game whiles Bismark was introduced in the 69th minute. They lost 4-2 away from home.

Adam Kwarasey sat on the bench for Rosenborg BK in their 2-0 win against IK Start.

TURKEY

Samuel Inkoom maintained his right back position for Antalyaspor against Karabukspor in the Turkish Super Lig as they lost 3-2 away from home.

In another Super Lig match, Isaac Sackey played 54 minutes for Alanyaspor whiles former Hearts of Oak defender Nuru Sulley was missing in action. They defeated Trabzonspor by three goals to nothing.
