Villa counting on Adomah Championship experience – Di Matteo

Manager for English Championship side Aston Villa, Roberto Di Matteo says he is “really happy” with the arrival of Ghanaian international Albert Adomah.

Di Matteo, who replaced Remi Gardy revealed that the main reason for bringing the 28-year-old on-board is to help the Villains with his experience gain in the second tier, after helping Middlesbrough secure promotion back into the English topflight league in their seven-year absence.

Adomah had earlier turned down an offer from Villa but finally agreed to a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee and will reunite with Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew.

The winger is the fifth signing for the club after completing deals for Tommy Elphick, Mile Jedinak, Richie de Laet, and James Chester.

“Albert is a player I’m really happy to have brought to the club and like others he knows what is required to win promotion from the Championship,” Di Matteo told Villa website.

“He is an attacking player who creates goals and I’m confident he will be an impressive addition to the group.”

Adomah spent three years with Boro in the championship – appeared 128 times and scored 23 goals.
