VIDEO: Gyan denies failing @ReadingFC medical

Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan insists his botched move to English Championship side Reading FC was not due to a failed medical.

According to the former Sunderland player, he, aside football reasons, was eager for a return to England because he was moving his family out of Ghana to the European country.

The forward is back in Accra after securing a loan switch from Shanghai FC to UAE’s Al Ahli on transfer deadline day.

Speaking to newsmen at the Kotoka International Airport Thursday, he strongly denied failing his medical at the Championship club on Monday as widely reported.

Gyan said: “I went there [Reading]. I did the medical; the journalists, their set-up, everything was set and I was about to sign but then we had a conversation [that] i didn’t want to agree.

“We had a misunderstanding there so I got upset and left.”

“It was the following day [Tuesday] that I read an article that I had failed the medical. I felt funny and upset…”

Asamoah Gyan then confirmed ghonetv.com’s earlier publication that he was asked to excuse himself from national team invitations in order to have his deal go through.
