Assistant Coach for the senior national team the Black Stars, Maxwell Konadu is confident of a victory in next month’s 2018 World Cup qualifying game at home to Uganda.
The match which will be played on Friday October 7, 2016 at the Tamale Sports Stadium is the the Black Stars’ Group E opening match in the search for a ticket to Russia.
And the former Kotoko Coach in an interview with TV3 sports is hopeful his side can defeat any team they face.
“I think as we all know [the clash against] Uganda is coming on and everybody is waiting for that match. We know it will be difficult, no doubt [about] it and we are ready to face the match with all seriousness because it’s the World Cup and the approach is different from other matches.”
He added, “With the team we have now, I think it’s very difficult to beat hands down within the 90 mins because the team we have is a solid team. I’m sure we can beat every team that comes our way.”
Konadu also empathized with injured Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah who is expected to be out of action for about 45 days.
“I think Kwadwo was one of the most important players we had back then but of late he’s been sustaining injuries that we all think is not good for him and us. We can only wish him well and hope that he returns as soon as possible to help us because we really need him.”
Ghana’s other group opponents in the qualifiers are Egypt and Congo.
