Kwadwo Asamoah’s injury unfortunate – Ghana FA Veep

In-form Kwadwo Asamoah’s latest injury has come as a source of worry to the nation and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as well, with Vice President George Afriyie expressing concern over the situation.

Juventus announced on their official website that Asamoah has been ruled out for six weeks after picking up a knee injury in their Saturday clash against Palermo.

The 26-year-old made a second half appearance for the Bianconneris on the 68th minute but suffered a setback late in the game.

The road was all but cleared for the former Udinese star to hit the ground running after battling through injuries last season, but seems to have been dragged back into the same situation.

Avram Grant had included Asamoah in his 23-man squad according to reports but will be forced to make changes to his set-up.

“Kwadwo Asamoah’s injury was unfortunate because it happened at a time that he had agreed to play for the national team against Uganda,” Afriyie told Citi FM.

“He is a player I know very well and this will be a big blow to everybody who is associated with him especially Ghana.”

“We are with him in prayers and I don’t know how long he will be out but one thing is certain and that is we are with him in prayers.

“We hope that he will be able to recover in time to join his colleagues once again.”

Asamoah will miss Ghana’s world cup qualifying opener against Uganda in October 7, as well as a friendly match against South Africa four days after.
