Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan won his first silverware with his new club Al Ahli on Tuesday night in the UAE Super Cup after they defeated Al Jazira by 2-1.

The match was a curtain-raiser between Al Ahli, who won the Arabian league whiles Al Jazira claimed the President’s Cup as well.

Mohammed Fawzi scored an own goal on the stroke of half time whiles Rodrigo Lima doubled the lead for Ahli in the 69th minute through a spot kick. Brazilian Thiago Neves of Jazira reduced the deficit in the 90th minute.

Gyan, who is on-loan from Chinese outfit Shanghai SIPG, came off the bench together with another marquee signing Everton Ribeiro to honour the last three minutes of the game.
