Ghanaian international Albert Adomah has revealed his excitement and the emotional feeling he went through after signing for Aston Villa in the championship.
Villa tied the winger down to a four-year deal on transfer deadline day for a fee of £5 million and will stay until 2020.
The 28-year-old was believed to have put up a ‘lazy’ attitude at Middlesbrough, something the technical handlers were not in tune with and saw him dropped to the bench in subsequent matches.
The move back to the second tier presents a perfect opportunity for the former Bristol City forward to re-write the scripts once again and prove his critics wrong.
“I played against Villa in pre-season,” Adomah told the club’s website.
“Straight away when we walked in, I thought ‘wow, [this] is a massive club’.
“It’s one of the best pitches I’ve seen, it’s like a carpet.
“I’m so very pleased to sign. I was like a child. I couldn’t sleep the night before I joined.”
“I’m so happy to be here. I met the gaffer and the chief executive. They speak highly of the project going forward which is to build a team and take the team forward.
“I want to start training with my team-mates and getting to know them – I can’t wait.”
Adomah spoke highly of Belgian defender Ritchie De Laet. A player he played alongside with in helping the Boros gain promotion to the premiership.
He was on loan from ELP winners Leicester City, but has signed a permanent deal until 2019
“Ritchie De Laet is new as well. I’ve played with him and it will be the same with Jordan (Ayew), they will show me the ropes and make me feel at home.
“I have another friend here and I’m sure I’ll make many more.
“I hope my hard work will pay off and help the team get promoted as well.”
Albert Adomah has been given jersey number 37, formerly worn by Callum Robinson.
