GPL Wrap: All Stars, Aduana set up two-horse title race

League leaders WA All Stars firmed up their resolve to clinch their first ever title with an emphatic 3-1 victory over Dreams FC at the Malik Jabir Stadium Sunday.

Emmanuel Ocran bagged a hat trick against the league debutants before Ben Nash Quansah pulled one back. The result hands the Wa-based side a good shot at the summit of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League log as their major contenders all faltered in their respective match day 27 games.

At the Nana Geabour Park, a hat trick by striker Abednego Tetteh spelt doom for the title aspirations of Accra Hearts of Oak as they also succumbed to a 1-3 defeat away to Bechem United. The Phobians could only manage to reduce the deficit late in the game through defender Joseph Owusu Bempah.

Asante Kotoko failed to make their home dominance count as they were frustrated to a barren stalemate with Berekum Chlesea at the Baba Yara Stadium. Denied severally by the agile John Moosie, goalkeeper of the visitors, the porcupines who with the draw move up to third place but no longer hold a realistic chance of winning the league title.

Aduana Stars managed to pull a rare point from WAFA SC at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope. The game ended 1-1 with Bright Adjei scoring with a beautiful volley while Togolese import Komla Agbegniadan scored his 7th league goal for WAFA since joining the side midway into the season. Aduana remain at 2nd position – 3 points behind leaders Wa All Stars who hold 48 points.
