GPL: Referee Bulu facing lengthy ban after Edubiase-Kotoko poor show

Referee Charles Bulu, an officiating official in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) is facing lengthy ban for a below par performance in a match day 22 fixture between Edubiase United and Asante Kotoko on July 27.

The match, which saw the hosts complete a season double over Asante Kotoko with a 2-1 score line at the Bekwai Gyamfi’s Park, was marred by poor officiating displayed by the young centre referee.

Referee Bulu, among several controversial decisions, highlighted a bad day at work with two contentious penalties to either side. His performance on the day drew agitations from both sides and had to be heavily escorted to the dressing room at half time.

Ghonetv.com understands referee Charles Bulu was summoned by the Ghana FA referees’ review panel and looks set to be handed a ban that will see him miss the remainder of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League after a review of the match footage found him culpable in many of his decisions.

The 2015/16 Ghana Premier League enters match day 23 this weekend.

Hearts of Oak currently lead the chase for the $30,000 prize money as well as the newly acquired trophy unveiled by the GFA/PLB on Thursday.
