GPL: Match day 24 PREVIEW

The Ghana Premier League is all but set to enter week 24 this weekend. With the exception of the rescheduled Medeama-Hasaacas game due to the Yellow and Mauves’ Caf Confederation Cup encounter with Congo’s TP Mazembe on Sunday, all other matches will come off as expected on Saturday.

Let’s begin from the Brong Ahafo region where 15th-placed Bechem United welcome 14th-positioned Inter Allies to the Bechem Park. With both clubs fighting to escape relegation, the match is expected to be a close contest.

The other fixture in the Brong Ahafo region will be the ‘Bono’ derby at Dormaa where Aduana Stars host Berekum Chelsea. The Fire Boys are still in the race for the title, and will have to win to put themselves in good position to take advantage of any possible slip by the top two.

At Bekwai, New Edubiase, fresh from a 2-0 defeat to Ashantigold in the Adansi derby on Sunday, will have Wafa as their visitors. The Academy Boys, who outclassed Hearts of Oak at Sogakope last weekend, are paradoxically poor travelers. Edubiase, meanwhile, find themselves at the base of the table and urgently need to clinch maximum points to enhance their chances of survival.

Dreams FC, after a 1-0 away loss to Asante Kotoko last Sunday, play Ashantigold at the Theatre of Dreams, Dawu.

Elsewhere, the Cape Coast Robert Mensah Stadium will see Ebusua Dwarfs, on the back of a ‘mysterious’ 1-0 away victory over Techiman City, play league leaders Wa All Stars. It’s worthy to note that Dwarfs are on a four-match unbeaten run.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko, in the wake of their controversial 1-0 triumph over Dreams, will play guests to Liberty Professionals at the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park.

The final match will be at the Accra Sports Stadium where Hearts of Oak host Techiman City in the Phobians’ bid to regain the top position relinquished to All Stars following the 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Wafa.

No game will be telecast this weekend.
