Bechem ask Zacharias to “step aside”

Premier league side Bechem United have told their Portuguese trainer Manuel Zacharias to “step aside” from all activities of the club with immediate effect.

A letter signed by club president Kingsley Owusu-Achau on Wednesday was sent to Zacharias, cutting his time short with the club.

Bechem United are battling relegation in the premier league despite their splendid performance in the MTN FA Cup.

According to the letter from the club, Zacharias has engaged himself in series of indiscipline actions which the club cannot cope with any longer.

“We do not think you have the temperament or the single mindedness to help our club avoid the drop. Certainly tensions between you and the team manager concerning your partner/girlfriend is totally unacceptable.”

Your insistence on taking your partner/girlfriend to Wa and the decision not to travel with the team bus against management wish is also unacceptable. The arguments that ensued in Wa before our match with Wa All Stars, regarding your partner/girlfriend going to the stadium in the team bus is at best unprofessional,” the statement read.

“We cannot find a solution to this issue between you, your partner/girlfriend and the team whiles we are deeply involved in relegation.”

Zacharias joined the Brong Ahafo based team midway through the first round of the season. He led the club to its first ever MTN FA Cup final.

Bechem United becomes the second club to tell their coach to step aside this season after Asante Koto told David Duncan to same earlier on in the season.
