Coach of Bechem United, Manuel Zachariah claims the only obstacle that could deny Asante Kotoko becoming champions is the prowess of their technical bench.
The coach, after eliminating Kotoko from the MTN FA Cup a few weeks ago, led his side to yet again, frustrate the Porcupine Warriors at their backyard and earned a point from the match day 19 encounter on Sunday.
In a post-match briefing, the Portuguese trainer, explaining how he has managed to pull two great results against Kotoko in back-to-back games attacked his opposite bench as being one sided in terms of tactics.
“I will give you one answer and it’s very simple, if I’m the coach of Kotoko, I will change many things in Kotoko because Kotoko has good players. But coach is coach, philosophy is philosophy…,” Manuel Zachariah told the press.
“Kotoko with another system can be champion. They have everything to be champion,” he maintained.
Coach Michael Osei has now played 13 games after he was assigned to the role of head coach of Kotoko and has won the President Cup.
A win for Kotoko over Bechem would have seen them occupy top spot for the first time this season as Wa All Stars fell to WAFA SC by 1-2 at Sogakope. Their arch-rivals, Hearts of Oak, by virtue of an impressive away win over Sekondi Hasaacas have leapt to the first position with 34 points. Kotoko are now third behind All Stars on goal difference.
Asante Kotoko come up against Ebusua Dwarfs in Cape Coast in midweek (July 20) and then Accra Hearts of Oak next weekend in the Premier League.
