[See Photos] Right to Dream Academy sets up new facility in Kumasi

Right to Dream Academy has cut sod for the opening of a new facility in the Ashanti Region on Friday, 3rd June 2016.

The modern soccer school boasts of a 4G artificial turf which happens to be the highest grade of artificial turf currently available and will be running three summer programmes such as youth league, corporate league and school league.

Right to Dream Academy has over the years become one of the world’s most renowned football academies from its successes with football and academies providing scholarships worth over $10 million to various players.

The facility which has been named after one of their graduates and MLS’ Chicago Fire striker David Accam; The David Accam Community Pitch, will provide a scholarship of fully residential programme to students aged 9-11 years to attend Enas Hybrid School as they develop their football abilities and character.

David Accam has described the gesture of giving back to the society as an honour.

“For me this is one of the greatest achievement in my life and I’m really honoured. I don’t care about the champions league I have played for the national team. I think this is the main thing and for me it’s like trying to give back to the community and trying to help Ghana”.

He added: “I think without Right to Dream I wouldn’t be here because I went to Right to Dream as 10 years, 11 years guy and now I’m a man. I have played in Europe, playing in the MLS now and also the national team and now I’m here doing this so for me Right to Dream was like my everything”.

Managing Director of the Academy, Robin Bourne –Taylor revealed at the ceremony the girls academy programme which is one of a kind in Africa with the aim of producing talented female footballers.

Successful students will graduate to Right to Dream’s main academy in old Akrade. Kumasi is Right to Dream’s second soccer school after Takoradi was opened in 2014.
