Kotoko: Amos Frimpong backs new recruits to shine

Captain for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Amos Frimpong has rallied behind the three new inclusions into the team, saying their qualities and experience will go a long way to inject the team positively.

The Porcupines Warriors sealed a deal for three players before the transfer deadline day. Emmanuel Osei ‘Carlos’ from Ashanti Gold as well as free agents Emmanuel Gyamfi and Seidu Bancey (who is making a return to the club) were all brought on-board to bolster the squad for the second round of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League.

Captain of the side added that, the team is in high spirit ahead of the second round which he believes will be more fiercely contested compared to the first round.

“I believe in the players signed for the second round because they all have the qualities that when brought on-board, will help us achieve our target at the end of the season,” Amos told Kumasi-based Boss FM.

“Taking a closer look at [Emmanuel] Osei Carlos, Emmanuel Gyamfi and Seidu Bancey, all these players have the innate qualities and I think I will laud management for being able to capture them. It’s never too late, we can work things out and win the league.

“There was enormous pressure on us because Hearts were playing better and on top of us as well on the league table. But all the same, we kept our composure, fought back and now ahead of them on the league log. We are all very happy in camp now.

“Things were difficult at the start of the season because most of the players who had a wonderful pre-season got injured. It really affected the team but all thanks to the life patron of the club, Otumfo Osei Tutu II, for his intervention. His promise of a bus and advice changed everything for us,” he added.

Kotoko has resumed training after going on a one week break to prepare for their Unity match, which comes off at the Baba Yara Stadium on Wednesday.
