Ghana international Jordan Ayew says he keeps his game going by taking criticisms on the chin.
According to the Aston Villa forward commentaries on his output in games – positive or negative, is part of the game of football.
The 24-year-old draws the example of the globe’s biggest football stars – Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi of Barcelona who have have dominated the FIFA Ballon d’Or since its inception with seven titles between them.
“People criticize Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, why can’t they criticize me? It is part of our game [football],” Jordan Ayew said in an interview with Nana Aba Anamoah, host of GH One TV flagship current affairs show, State Of Affairs.
He continued: “I don’t have any problem [with criticisms]. It is normal. If they [fans] criticize you, it means you are a very good player and they really count on you. It is a good sign and maybe a bad sign for your family who may hear it.”
Jordan Ayew has been capped over 40 times since making his debut for the Ghana national team against Swaziland in September 2010. At club level, he has featured for French giants Olympique Marseille who nurtured his talent, Sochaux and FC Lorient all in France.
In summer 2015, he switched to Aston Villa in the English Premier League for a reported £8.4 million transfer fee. Jordan enjoyed an impressive debut season, featuring in 30 games in all competitions and scored 7 goals in the process. His Aston Villa side however suffered relegation to the English championship.
