CAF CL: John Antwi hits brace in Al Ahly defeat

Ghana International John Antwi struck twice as his Egyptian side Al Ahly succumbed to a 3-2 defeat to Zambia’s Zesco United in the Champions League Saturday.

Zesco opened the scoring early in the first half on the 27th minute through John Ching’andu but three minutes later, Antwi connected a pass from Ramadan Sobhi at the right side of attack to pull parity.

Early in the second half, the Zambian scored two quick goals from birthday boy Clatous Chama in the 49th and 55th minute respectively before the 23-year-old reduced the deficit 12 minutes after.

Also on Saturday, Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca took a first-half 1-0 lead through Salaheddine Saidi’s goal and held on to defeat Asec Mimosas of Ivory Coast.

Al Ahly will host Asec Mimosas at home in their next group fixture on the 28th of June with Zesco travelling to face Wydad Casablanca a day after.
