No plans to register Akuffo, Ainooson in 2nd window – Kotoko

A management member of Asante Kotoko has clarified that the club has not considered beefing up their Premier League squad with returning duo Michael Akuffo and Abeiku Ainooson.

Both players were sent out on loan before the start of the season with midfielder Michael Akuffo heading to Al Ansar in Malaysia while defender Abeiku Ainooson signed one year with Sudan’s Al Hilal.

Akufo’s deal was terminated after suffering a serious knee injury in whereas Hilal cut short their deal with Ainooson right after their Caf Champions League exit.

“[Michael] Akuffo and Abeiku [Ainooson] were not in our plans for the season after sending them out to clubs abroad for a full season. However midway and for some reasons, they are back after terminating their respective contracts.

“The coach has so far informed us he needs an offensive midfielder and a striker. As management, we act on the coach’s requests and this is what he has asked for at the moment. We are working at meeting these demands of the coach until any further notice,” Kotoko’s deputy spokesoerson, Solomon Ofosuware explained.

The Porcupine Warriors are already in talks to re-sign former striker Nathaniel Asamoah.
