Guinea withdraws from Black Stars friendly

The Guinea Football Federation (FGF) has written to its Ghanaian counterparts to withdraw from an international friendly between its two senior national teams.

An agreement had been in place for the Syli Nationale to face the Black Stars at the Stade de la Licorne d’Amiens in France on Saturday May 28, 2016.

Last week Guinea announced that head coach Fernandez and his technical team rejected a proposal to play Egypt in favour of a date with the Black Stars.

However, four days to the game, the FGF has pulled out of the game in order to solve some “internal problems.”

A statement from the Ghana FA announcing the cancelation of the international friendly reads:

“Ghana’s international friendly against Guinea which was scheduled for Saturday, May 28 in Paris, France has been called off.

This decision was taken after the Guinean Football Federation pulled out of the game to enable them resolve some internal problems.

The game was to form part of the Black stars’ preparations for their upcoming 2017 AFCON qualifier against Mauritius.”

The Ghana FA says it “will announce further plans for the senior national team before their qualifying match” away to Mauritius on June 5.
