GPL: Akonnor pats Dreams players on the back despite Hearts draw

Dreams FC coach, C.K Akonnor says he is satisfied with his team’s output in their 1-1 draw with Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

Dreams FC were held at home to the Phobians at the Dawu Park in the last match of the first round in the ongoing Ghana Premier League. The home side took the lead through Lawson Bekui but Paul Acquah equalized late in the game to deny Dreams the maximum points at home.

Akonnor, a former player and coach of the Rainbow club has expressed contentment with the one point gained by his outfit though he was in search of the three points at stake.

“It is a good performance from my boys. I was impressed with the way my team played, they showed a great spirit and they showed that they wanted to win the game,” Akonnor said after the game.

“We wanted to win the three points but that couldn’t happen. I will say it was a good show from my team and I was very impressed. I think we could have utilized our chances, it would have been a different story if we had utilized our chances,” the former Black Stars skipper added.

The draw, granting the two sides a point each puts Dreams FC sixth with 23 points and sends Hearts of Oak down to fourth on the league log after the first round. They are tied on same points (26) with Kotoko who are third.
