England dumped: Joe Dodoo trains with Black Stars

English champions Leicester City forward Joe Dodoo has confirmed his rumored choice for Ghana over England in terms of international future.

Sporting the number 3 shirt, Dodoo who is back on holidays in Ghana for the first time since leaving 12 years ago, joined the Black Stars in training at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday.

Dodoo, 20, was born in Kumasi to Ghanaian parents but migrated to the United Kingdom at the age of eight. He has been capped once for the English U18 side in a game against Belgium in March 2013. Due to this, he must go through FIFA’s nationality switch procedure before he can officially feature for Ghana.

The process, Ghonetv.com understands, has already been initiated by the Ghana FA who are expecting a clearance from the world football governing body any time from now. The striker activated the process by officially notifying FIFA of his decision to switch his nationality to Ghana.

But for the FIFA process, Coach Avram Grant who met Dodoo in April would have included the forward in his official 23-man roster for the June 5 Nations Cup qualifier away to Mauritius.

He could be added to the squad should FIFA clear him before the Black Stars leave Accra for Mauritius on Thursday June 2.

Meanwhile, Italy-based Alfred Duncan is the only player who has still not joined the Black Stars since opening camp on Monday. The midfielder’s inability to report as at training time Tuesday has been attributed to flight dealys.
