Medeama head coach Tom Strand has named 20 players for Thursday night’s trip to South Africa for their CAF Confederation Cup playoff first leg against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Widespread media reports Tuesday claimed the Swede had been left out of the opening leg of the crucial Africa tie due to his recent conduct at the club.
Strand has been off the technical area of the Mauve and Yellows since their 3-0 defeat away to Aduana Stars in the Ghana Premier League.
The embattled coach whose contract is set to run out after June has since offered an apology through a letter to the club’s management for his latest conduct.
The Ghana FA Cup champions, after initial delays in securing visas for their travelling contingent expect to leave Accra Thursday night. Medeama are on an 11pm flight from the Kotoka Airport to Pretoria.
Strand’s squad of 20 includes three goalkeepers and 17 outfield players. The team trains twice at the Lizzy Sports Complex on Thursday before leaving for South Africa.
Mamelodi Sundowns who just secured the 2015/16 South Africa Premier League title host Medeama at the Lucas Moripe stadium on Saturday, May 7. Kickoff is set at 16:00 GMT.
