‘Michael Osei ripe for Kotoko job’ – Prince Polley

Ex-Asante Kotoko striker, Prince Opoku Polley Sampene has indicated that stand-in coach Michael Osei is ready and should be promoted to the position of head of the technical team.

The former Black Stars striker sees no reason why the club has to go for another coach whiles Michael Osei, being a former player, understands the philosophy and the Kum Apem spirit.

Since David Duncan was asked to step aside, Osei has won his two matches played, scored five goals and conceded only one.

Prince wants his former club to maintain the services of their assistant coach, having worked under two most experienced coaches in Ghana – Didi Dramani and David Duncan.

“I think Michael Osei should be given the chance [as head coach],” Prince told Boss FM.

“… At this point, we all understand that all we are looking for is win. Against Liberty, the players played very well and our latest game too [against Real 24 Hours].

“Before the arrival of Maxwell Konadu, Michael was ahead of him. Maxwell was given the chance to lift the team to a certain level and that paved way for him to get a national team job.

“I don’t think they [Kotoko] have to go in for another coach. I don’t see who has to come in for Michael to assist him. Left to me alone, Michael Osei should be allowed to continue with his work.

“I feel he hasn’t gotten the opportunity to prove himself. If he is given the same contract as other coaches, he will work even better than them.”

Prince Polley, 46, played for Kotoko between 1984 and 1988.

He also featured for the Black Stars and scored a match winner against Nigeria in the 1992 Cup of Nations semi finals.

Asante Kotoko will play guests to Dreams FC in a match day 8 mid-week fixture in the ongoing 2015/16 Ghana Premier League.
