Grant already thinking of Gabon 2017

Head coach of the Ghana national team, Avram Grant has set sights on the African Cup of Nations come next year.

Grant is already thinking of making a much bigger impact this time around and possibly winning the ultimate, after the Black Stars narrowly lost to Cote D’Ivoire on penalties last year.

The last time the Stars won the African Cup tournament was way back in 1982, 34 years now.

The Israeli says he has much bigger plans for the team to straighten things up for the campaign.

“I’m thinking about this and thinking even more than this. I will make Ghana strong, strong and strong. I will have a meeting with the people in charge and we will speak about things we can do better because we need to show things in African Cup. I hope and am sure we will qualify,” Avram revealed in an interview with the Ghana FA Communications Division.

“So in this case, we want to show again the last time. Quality teams, strong team mentality and strong team physically for this. I think we showed that in the last time by pushing the button. It is a lot of work off the pitch. If we do the right thing, I think we can have a good tournament,” he added.

The Black Stars currently head Group H with 10 points, having won three matches and drawn one.

Ghana will travel to play third place Mauritius in June this year for their next AFCON Qualifying match.
